Short bio:
Dr. Saleh is an Associate Professor of Practice and Director of Graduate Programs in the Department of Psychology at the American University in Cairo. In addition to her academic responsibilities, she is a licensed clinical psychologist in Massachusetts and is credentialed by The National Register of Health Service Psychologists.
Recognizing the challenges in Egypt—where mental health practices are still growing and often lack regulation—she has dedicated herself to raising the standards of the profession through education, supervision, and skills training. Her efforts aim to increase the visibility and understanding of psychology, while also ensuring its ethical and competent implementation.
Dr. Saleh has collaborated with UNICEF and several Egyptian government entities since 2016 including: the Ministry of Social Solidarity, The Ministry of Education, The National Council for Women and the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, with the goal of building capacity among Egyptian social and mental health professionals.
Through her multifaceted role as educator, clinician, and consultant, Dr. Saleh embodies the spirit of a practitioner-scientist dedicated to making meaningful contributions to mental health services. Her ongoing efforts and future aspirations reflect a deep commitment to enhancing the capacity of mental health practitioners, and ultimately improving the lives of those they serve.
