Malá strana was founded in the 13th century by the Czech king Přemysl Otakar II. but it was completely destroyed by Hussite troops already in the 15th century. In the 16th century, Emperor Rudolf II moved to Prague and with him the entire imperial court. The nobility tries to build their palaces as close as possible to the royal castle, and Malá Strana is completely transformed in the Renaissance style. Later, this entire part of Prague was again transformed into a Baroque style, and the nobility built their luxurious residences here.
